As I come across various natural, organic, vegan and traditional recipes, the ones that we try and love, I will update in "The Recipe Box" and hope that you enjoy them as much as we do! Remember, good healthy food and fresh water are the keys to helping one stay younger, more energetic, flexible and healthy into old age. Eat fresh vegetables and fruit, but in the winter months, you might consider natural/wild or organic, frozen fruit. It has all the nutrients of the fresh fruit, giving you all the benefits of "in season" fruit, in the winter! Yum! A favorite breakfast here in the winter is always organic oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon, a dash of organic brown sugar (stevia or real maple syrup), a touch of milk and when you add the fruit, usually blueberries or mixed berries, it's a huge hit! Top it off with a tablespoon of hemp hearts,wheat germ or slivered almonds (almond and blueberry, ummm!) and you have one hearty, whole "Canadian Stick To Your Ribs Cold Winter Breakfast"! But remember, it's never quite the same without the fruit! The same could be said about vegetables, the difference being, that there are quite a few winter vegetables harvested in late fall, that when stored properly are "fresh" for the winter months, so freezing isn't the only option for fresh vegetables. All the root type veg's that we are so fortunate to have available, make for good hearty winter health! Last but certainly not least, "Water"! Anyone and everyone who knows me, will tell you that I am always saying.....Drink Water!!! to almost every complaint I hear! From arthritis to wrinkles, a lot can be prevented by drinking sufficient amounts of fresh water everyday, starting when your still young and continuing into old age is best, but that doesn't mean "its to late" to start now! Add some fresh squeezed lemon for a taste difference if you need a little change, but I have found that when you drink at least 1 - 2 litres a day consistently, you start to want water when your thirsty, your body asks for it, and it is the only thing that actually quenches your thirst! A Taste Of The Good Life!

Can you outgrow an allergy?: Your most likely to outgrow allergies to milk, eggs, wheat and soy - but - only about 20% of the population outgrow allergies to peanuts, shell fish or fish. *NOTE: recent research suggests that allergies you outgrew, can re-surface suddenly, later in life. What to do for an allergic reaction: Taking an antihistamine to stop anaphylactic shock is only helpful for very mild reactions If you have a reaction, especially with food, the adrenaline in a shot of epinephrine can help stop anaphylaxis. It's not a cure, but it does stop the shock temporarily. The Big One: Can smelling peanut butter trigger a reaction? Recent studies have shown that smelling peanut butter does not cause anaphylaxis in people with peanut allergies, but anyone who has had a severe reaction, may have had a psychological response to the smell. *Note: I was reading a magazine the other day that had an interesting article on: Harnessing The Power Of Herbs, that states: "Food Allergy Herbal Formula-2 called FAHF-2, is a pill being developed by Xiu-Min Li, director of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine's Center for Chinese Herbal Therapy for Allergy and Asthma in New York City - contains Sichuan pepper and ginseng root, which appear to trigger a balanced immunological response.
